Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

Prince Philip was from the royal families of Greece and Denmark. He went to schools in Britain, France and Germany.

• 1947 - Philip became engaged to Elizabeth
• 1948 - Philip's first child with Elizabeth, Charles was born
• 1950 - Philip's second child with Elizabeth, Anne was born

During the world war, Prince Philip served in the royal navy where he became a first lieutenant. This continued to be his career after he had his children.

Philip's Romantic Life

When Philip became engaged to Elizabeth II on 20th November 1947 he gave up his title and instead became known as Philip Mountbatten. The wedding ceremony took place at Westminster Abbey in London.

Children

With Elizabeth, Philip had two children. Born in Buckingham Palace in 1948 was Charles and in 1950 in Clarence House, Anne.
