World War 2

World War 2 is a war that started in 1939 and ended in 1945. During this time air-raid shelters were used to keep people safe from bombs and many children were evacuated to the countryside where it was safer. Evacuation often happened in villages around the United Kingdom but some children were evacuated to the United States of America and Canada. Undoubtedly many would have found the experience of being away from their families difficult.
