What happens at an infant baptism service?

The religious building of Christians is a church. One of the services which take place in this building is called an infant baptism. This service is to welcome the new baby into the church family.

What symbols are used at an infant baptism

• The cross - this symbol reminds Christians of Jesus and the importance of him.
• Water - this is a symbol of cleansing - some Christians believe this water makes the baby pure and clean before God.
• Lit candle - this symbolises the light of Jesus will be there to guide the baby's life.
