Trooping the Colour

From My Second Brain

Trooping the Colour is a military ceremony in the United Kingdom which celebrates the king or queen's birthday. It doesn't take place on their birthday but does celebrate it.

During Elizabeth II's reign it was called the Queen's Birthday Parade.

As part of the ceremony the Queen or King will check the army who are responsible for their safety. As Elizabeth II had a lot of respect for the army she often took part in the ceremony personally, wearing the guards uniform and riding her personal horse.
