Fronted Adverbial of Time

From My Second Brain

A fronted adverbial of time is a sentence starter which tells us when something happens. It is always followed by a comma.

Examples:

  • Yesterday, Susie skipped to the playground.
  • After school, we went skating.
  • Last night, I played with my new toy.
  • Yesterday, my dog chased a cat.
  • Last week, Robert won a race.
  • In the summer, we ate ice cream.
  • A long time ago, people lived in caves.

Some fronted adverbials of time are just a single word followed by a comma. Others are a couple of words forming a phrase followed by a comma. In both cases the fronted adverbial of time tells us when something happened.
