An infant baptism is a special service to welcome a new baby into the church family.
As part of this service the parents will pick some godparents, they together with the parents will gather around the font where they will make promises to God about how help to bring up the child as a Christian. The priest will then make the sign of the cross in sacred oil on the baby's head and finally pour some water from the font over the babies head.
Once the service is complete the baby is now baptised and a lit baptism candle will be given to the parents.
