View source for Year 1 Art 1.1: How artists make marks

In this lesson we learnt that we can marks with more than just our [[Wrist|wrists]]. Yes, [[Wrist|wrists]] can be used to make small and controlled marks but is we want large marks we need to engage our [[Shoulder|shoulders]]. Alternatively we can use other parts of our [[body]] to make marks, we could flick [[paint]] at [[paper]], drag a [[Felt-Tips|felt-tip]] across a piece of [[paper]] by it's end to create a thick, wobbly, [[random]] [[line]].

More conventionally here are some drawing tools we might use:

* [[Felt-Tips|felt-tips]]
* [[Colouring Pencils|colouring pencils]]

We can also use the following to make marks (may have to use your imagination):

* tape
* [[string]]
* [[feather]]
* toy car

[[Artist|Artists]] can also used media (or [[Material|materials]]) to make their art, this can inlcude:

* [[Oil Pastels|oil pastels]]
* [[ink]]

In a nutshell if the drawing tools and media can be used to make a mark they can be used make [[art]].
